The Barristers Club will hold its 12th annual meeting on Thursday, October 13, this year re-envisioned as a Litigation Summit. This conference gives attorneys the opportunity to hone their professional development while obtaining MCLE credit and networking with their peers. 

The 2022 Summit will focus on ethics and competence issues attorneys and law students from both sides of the courtroom should know, and will conclude with a networking reception.

Incompetent or Imposter
MCLE: 1 Hour in Legal Ethics

Imposter Syndrome is something a lot of us experience. We do not realize how many of our peers feel as though they do not belong in the legal field. This panel features 3 attorneys who will share their experiences overcoming Imposter Syndrome. This panel will explore the ABA and California Rules of Professional Conduct and how the Imposter Syndrome affects an attorney’s ability to ethically represent clients and how to communicate effectively with supervising attorneys, staff, clients, and the Court despite feeling like an imposter.

  • Imposter Syndrome is prevalent amongst the legal world
  • When navigating the practice of law, one must overcome feelings of incompetence and feeling like an “imposter” to adequately and ethically represent the interests of the client
  • ABA Professional Rules of Conduct & CA Professional Rules of Conduct 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 1.3, 1.6, 1.16, 3.1, 3.3, 3.4, 3.5, 5.1
  • Competence – case management, representation, calendaring
  • Ethical Attorney-Client Communications and Relationships: How and when to speak to clients, opposing counsel, and court staff

Substitution, Cancellation, and Refund Requests

For CLE events of 1.5 hours or less, Lunch & Learn programs, Happy Hours, Receptions, and Mixers, a refund is available if you submit your cancellation request at least 48 hours prior to the event. A $10 handling fee will deducted from your refund. Please complete the Event Cancellation Form.

For CLE events longer than 1.5 hours, and for special events such as conferences, symposiums, professional development training programs, a 50% refund is available if you cancel at least 10 business days prior to the event. Please complete the Event Cancellation Form.

If you are unable to attend, you may send a substitute. Please complete the Event Cancellation Form.
