Panel I: Election Protection and Voting Rights Protection in 2024 and Beyond
Voting is a fundamental right, and yet since its conception, we’ve seen politicians and government institutions suppressing Americans’ right to vote through voter identification laws, restrictions on mail-in and early voting, and unnecessary obstacles to registration. For years, the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights of the San Francisco Bay Area has partnered with the Asian Law Caucus to train and mobilize over 200 volunteers to monitor over 500 polling places and voting centers across 12 counties in Northern California and the Central Valley. At this training, learn how you can assist in the work for LCCR-SF to continue to play a critical role in protecting California elections from voter suppression and upholding equal access to the ballot.
Speakers
Nikki Endsley, Special Projects Attorney, Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights SF
Megan Maier, Deputy Director of Research & Partnerships, Verified Voting
Pooja Chaudhuri, Counsel, Voting Rights Project, Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law
Moderator
Kevin Benedicto, Counsel, Redgrave & San Francisco Police Commissioner
10:40 - 11:55 a.m. | MCLE: 1 Hour in Elimination of Bias
Panel II: Defending Diversity When DEI Initiatives are Challenged
Four years after 2020, the political climate around DEI initiatives has changed. In some instances public support has morphed into public backlash. Some law firms have even faced litigation aimed at their DEI initiatives. Is the pendulum beginning to swing the other way? And what is the future of DEI efforts that were applauded in 2020?
