New lawyers are often challenged to build and maintain credibility with more senior co-counsel, opposing counsel, and the courts. This can be especially difficult in fast-paced litigation when there does not seem to be enough time in the day to ask every question. In order to become an elite advocate, lawyers must learn how to earn the trust of their colleagues and others by asking the right questions, acting professionally, and overcoming “imposter syndrome.” This program will feature lessons learned, tips, and tricks from associates on the plaintiff’s bar, the defense bar, and a “neutral” who has seen it all.
Topics
- Setting expectations with co-counsel
- Managing the client relationship
- Dealing with aggressive opposing counsel
- How to answer common questions without reinventing the wheel
