Large scale disasters like the COVID pandemic raise many questions about how funds can be mobilized to help those who are negatively impacted. Whether you advise nonprofits, small businesses seeking assistance, or employers looking to help their employees, or serve on the board of a nonprofit yourself, this session will provide helpful guidance on the rules and requirements around mobilizing charitable funds to help those in need in response to a disaster. We’ll also mention a few issues unique to the pandemic.

  • Federal tax laws regarding 501(c)(3) public charity grants to individuals

  • Federal tax laws regarding 501(c)(3) public charity grants to small businesses
  • Forming a new nonprofit to provide disaster relief
